Asian Mythology

Collection brought to life in Dubai

Asian Mythology is about re-translating, beautifying and creating new perceptions.

A traditional chinese top I often wore reached its expiry date. Resisting letting it go, in between the space of ‘one breath to the next ‘ materialised a collection. Welcome to Asian Mythology!

To keep the top alive, I retranslated the use of its delicate collar by embellishelling it with various materials to create jewellery neckpieces. Blending the collar with my fascination for Asian mythology, each design became a narrative, a backstory about wisdom extracted from mythological storytelling during the Chinese Dynasty.

I blended silk collars with feathers, stones, glass beads, precious stones, silver, bronze and gold chains, and even antiques from the Berber tribe of Morocco for a twist. Some designs sweep lithely across collarbones, along necks, and down the back to become a jewellery jacket.
